Our Mission Statement
Our goal is to protect the tree canopy in Lexington by advocating for changes to town laws, insisting on their enforcement, and promoting a culture of conservation.
Mature trees define the character of our leafy suburban neighborhoods. They offer privacy, reduce noise, and moderate extreme temperatures, among many other benefits. Unfortunately, we are losing trees at an alarming rate. With that, our town becomes less livable, and massive amounts of once-sequestered carbon are released.
Our town is behind the curve in preserving this resource, a resource that cannot be recovered in our lifetime. There are precious few protections for trees in Lexington, and those that exist are often evaded or unenforced. Under these conditions, the accelerating forces of development and turnover will undoubtedly transform the landscape.
As a community, we can choose a different path. Together, we can change the culture, and we can change the laws. Please join us and become a part of that process.
Our site is new and still growing. Please be patient as we fill in the details.
